Richard A. Berkman, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Nashville-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
With clinical interests in all aspects of spinal surgery, Dr. Berkman specializes in complex spinal reconstruction. He currently serves as assistant professor at Vanderbilt Medical Center's department of neurological surgery.
Dr. Berkman is affiliated with the Research Society of Neurological Surgeons and has published his research in American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Journal of Neurosurgery, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism and more. He was also awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health between 1990 and 1995.
After earning his medical degree from New York University in New York City, Dr. Berkman interned and completed his neurological surgery at Vanderbilt University. He then underwent fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and at Emory University in Atlanta.
