Richard Francis, MD, a spine surgeon at Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital, performed the 100th robotic guided spine surgery at the hospital. The hospital and Dr. Francis were the first in Houston to purchase the Renaissance Surgical System technology from Mazor Robotics for the procedures. The robot is designed for a more precise procedure that could translate into fewer complications and revisions, according to a hospital news release.
