Los Angeles orthopedic spine surgeon Robert Watkins, MD, will perform spine surgery on Green Bay Packers safety Sean Richardson, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Richardson's surgery will be to repair a disc in his back. The injury occurred during the opening kickoff of the Nov. 25 game against the New York Giants.
Dr. Watkins is the co-director of the Marina Spine Clinic and a founding member of the North American Spine Society. His expertise is in sports-related spine injuries, and he has been a primary investigator in the FDA trial for ProDisc artificial disc replacement.
