William Taylor, MD, has begun using a cutting-edge approach to scoliosis treatment, which is designed to produce better outcomes, decreased recovery time and reduced risk of complications. Dr. Taylor is a neurosurgeon from the University of California San Diego. His approach uses a minimally invasive method rather than the traditional open procedure, which requires a large posterior incision. Dr. Taylor's approach uses two small incisions in the back to correct curvature without disrupting the patient's natural anatomy as much.
He has performed more than 1,000 minimally invasive spine procedures in the past 20 years. Dr. Taylor's new treatment may be safer for elderly patients and offers a higher reward with less risk.
