Christopher Duma, MD, will perform his Deep Brain Stimulation implantation for Parkinson's Disease treatment at DISC Surgery Center in Newport Beach, Calif. DBS is designed as an outpatient way to control tremors. An implant sends fine electrical impulses to particular parts of the brain and shuts down the areas that typically cause Parkinson's symptoms. DBS has a record of minimal side effects, according to the release.
Dr. Duma has been managing movement disorders since 1987 and was fellowship trained in the subspecialty at the University of Pittsburgh. DISC Sports & Spine was founded by Robert Bray, MD, and provides minimally invasive spine treatments and arthroscopic techniques.
