Morgan Lorio, MD, Chair of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery Coding & Reimbursement Task Force, recently published an article discussing the current concepts in vertebral augmentation. Dr. Lorio details the recent history of clinical studies assessing the evidence to support vertebral augmentation and the stance professional orthopedics and spine societies have taken on its use. He also calls for members of ISASS to work towards a position statement on vertebral body augmentation and disseminate fair and accurate information on these procedures.
