US minimally invasive spine device market to top $3B by 2019.

The U.S. minimally invasive spine device market is expected to reach $3 billion by 2019. The report said growth is expected in all segments, and the MIS sacroiliac joint fusion segment will be the fastest growing. MIS interbody fusion should hold onto the largest segment of the market.

Aesculap's released its Quintex Anterior Cervical Spine Plating System.
Center Valley, Pa.-based Aesculap Implant Systems' Quintex Anterior Cervical Plating System is now available for multiple level ACDF procedures.

Healthcare reform law's employer coverage mandate delayed.
One of the major provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has been put on the backburner, as the Obama administration announced it would delay the employer insurance mandate one year to 2015. The rule was originally slated to begin January 2014.

Orthozon Technologies launched its Lumiere Retractor for minimally invasive discectomy surgeries.  
Stamford, Conn.-based Orthozon Technologies introduced its Lumiere Retractor System, a patented device for microendoscopic discectomy surgeries.

2 Colorado neurological & spine practices joined ACADIA device clinical trial.
Boulder (Colo.) Neurosurgical & Spine Associates and the Justin Parker Neurological Institute joined approximately 28 other sites in the U.S. to participate in the ACADIA facet replacement system investigational clinical trial. The ACADIA is being tested as a device for treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis.

Survey: 50% of patients have not heard physicians discuss healthcare reform.
Half of patients have yet to hear their regular physician discuss healthcare reform or the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act at appointments, according to a survey from HealthPocket. The survey was based on 1,176 responses.

Osimplant's ARIA PLIF device available globally.
Turkey-based Osimplant launched the ARIA posterior lumbar interbody fusion cage insertion device. The ARIA has a parallel expandable mechanism for simple insertion, and it is designed to match natural vertebral anatomy. Currently, the ARIA is not available for sale in the U.S.
