Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and Loyola University Health System named Alexander J. Ghanayem, MD, FAAOS, chair of the department of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Ghanayem is replacing Terry Light, MD, who is stepping down after 25 years as department chair.
2. He will lead the department's academic initiatives as well as Loyola's clinical and graduate medical education programs.
3. He has a professional interest in surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine.
4. He completed a fellowship in spine surgery from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
