As I sit in a medical office, I observe how the parties interact: fill out this form, have a seat, need your insurance card. Sound familiar? What happened to the small niceties people exchange with one another: being courteous, a smile, a hello, please or thank you? Well, from this prospective, it seems to me that the need to get the information into the computer, complete the chart and prepare documentation has taken over and the formalities of personal gesturing have been replaced by the need to complete the tasks required to fulfill operational requirements.
