The award is only given sporadically, when organization leadership decides a sports medicine physician has exhibited excellence in clinical care and education.
Dr. Young, a professor of orthopedic surgery at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, is the team physician for the Milwaukee Brewers and past AMSSM president. He is also the co-director of the Annual Sports Symposium at the Medical College of Wisconsin and director of the college's primary care sports medicine fellowship.
