On April 24, James Andrews, MD, performed elbow surgery on Houston Astros pitcher John Ely to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament, according to an nwi.com report. After performing the procedure, Dr. Andrews suspected that the injury could be traced back to the player's adolescence.
The pitcher is expected to begin baseball activity next year during spring training.
