Answorth Allen, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician, recently performed knee surgery on the New York Knicks guard and forward J.R. Smith at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, according to a CBS New York report.
Dr. Allen performed the arthroscopic procedure to address a torn lateral meniscus in the player's left knee.
Dr. Allen serves as an associate attending orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery and an associate professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York.
He focuses on knee, shoulder and elbow surgery.
