Arthroscopic Bankart Repair Surgery May Be Cost-Effective Option for Young Patients

At the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine annual meeting, researchers, including Ryan P. Donegan, MD, MS, of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., presented the results of a study on arthroscopic bankart repair surgery and a cost-effective option for patients suffering their first shoulder dislocation.

 

The researchers found the cost of the procedure to be $11,267, quality of life rating to be 0.93 and the chances of re-dislocation of the shoulder to be 4 percent.
