NFL Settles Concussion Suit

The National Football League has announced a $765 million settlement in a case brought forth by 4,500 former athletes accusing the league of concealing and overlooking the dangers of concussions and other head injuries.

The settlement will go toward compensating former players, paying for medical exams and funding medical research. Any retired player with neurological problems will be eligible to receive settlement funds.

“Rather than litigate literally thousands of complex individual claims over many years, the parties have reached an agreement that, if approved, will provide relief and support where it is needed at a time when it is most needed,” Layn Phillips, the mediator, said in a statement, according to The New York Times.
