Here are eight orthopedic surgeons making the news this past week.

Thomas A. Einhorn, MD, was appointed director of clinical and transitional research development for New York University Langone's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

 

Leland McCluskey, MD, traveled to Nepal to provide medical aid to victims of the recent devastating earthquake.

 

The Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America appointed (Dallas) Texas Scottish Rite Hospital For Children's Lori A. Karol, MD, as the organization’s first ever woman president in its 40+ year history, reports D Magazine.

 

Patrick J. DeMeo, MD, professor and chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at Allegheny Health Network, said the MAKO RIO Robotic Arm system has "significantly expanded our capabilities in joint replacement surgery."

 

Bal M. Rajagopalan, M.D. FRCSC, aka Dr. Raj of Beverly Hills Orthopedic Institute, is now offering unicompartmental knee replacement.

 

The Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York named Joseph Fetto, MD, chief of orthopedics.

 

Bruce J. Thomas II, MD, of MIMA Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Melbourne Fla., was featured in SpaceCoastDaily.com, and spoke about his love and passion for sports medicine.

 

Ali Oliashirazi, MD, director of the Mary H. Hodges Joint Replacement Program at Cabell Huntington Hospital, told WOWKTV 13that the team completed their first total joint replacement on an outpatient basis.
