James Andrews, MD, performed knee surgery on Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, according to a report by The Wichita Eagle.

Here are four points:

 

1. Mr. Charles tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a game against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 11.

 

2. Dr. Andrews is the founding member of Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

 

3. He is a senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and the orthopedic medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.

 

4. He is a past-president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and led the STOP Sports Injuries campaign.
