Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, Calif., celebrated its 5th anniversary on Nov. 10.
Here are four observations:
1. Established in 2010 through a partnership between Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and a number of Orange County physicians, the institute is a specialty hospital that focuses exclusively on orthopedics.
2. Hoag Orthopedic Institute consists of a 70-bed hospital located in Irvine and two ambulatory surgery centers.
3. It has won numerous awards and accolades, including being ranked as a 'best hospital' by U.S. News & World Report and receiving a CMS 5-Star Rating for patient experience.
4. The institute actively provides charity care and offers free community lectures.
5. HOI is an innovator in bundled payment initiatives. Forbes recently featured an article that Ezekiel Emmanuel, MD, penned praising the hospital's transparency in both quality and pricing.
