Dr. Marcus Cook to perform knee surgery on Charlotte Hornets’ Al Jefferson — 5 key notes

Marcus Cook, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Novant Orthopedic Hospital in Charlotte, N.C., will perform knee surgery on Charlotte Hornets’ Al Jefferson, according to a CBS Sports report.

Here are five key notes:

 

1. Dr. Cook will perform surgery on Mr. Jefferson’s knee to repair a lateral meniscus tear. He’ll perform an arthroscopic procedure.

 

2. Mr. Jefferson is expected to sit out six weeks after surgery to recover from the procedure.

 

3. Dr. Cook is the head team physician for the Charlotte Hornets. He has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.

 

4. Dr. Cook earned his medical degree at Duke University and completed a residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. His additional training includes a fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital.

 

5. Dr. Cook is a member of Perry Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has practiced in Charlotte for more than five years.
