Stanford Children's Health launches Young Athletes Academy: 3 notes

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Children's Health has launched the Young Athletes Academy to help combat sports and recreation-related injuries among the youth.

Here are three notes:

1. The academy, developed by the Children's Orthopedic Center and Sports Medicine Program at Stanford Children's Health, includes a team of physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers.

2. The team will visit area high schools and work directly with students and coaches to educate athletes and develop treatments plans.

3. A prime focus of the academy is to prevent youths from sustaining season ending ACL injuries, which is one of the most common knee injuries in sports.
