New Jersey-based Atlantic Health System created a new program for pediatric sports medicine in Morristown, according to Daily Record.
Here are five things to know:
1. The health system has seen a rise in the number of pediatric sports injuries in the last five years, and believed the demand called for a more specialized focus in the area.
2. The program will involve psychical therapy, nutrition and psychology services.
3. The Pediatric Sports Medicine Program opened in November, and is intended for athletes eight to 18 years old.
4. The physicians use lower-dose radiation equipment, smaller braces and non-operative techniques for growing patients.
5. The health system's specialists will collaborate with coaches and team physicians to offer conferences and educational presentations.
