Dr. Matt Provencher leaving post as Patriots' medical director: 5 insights

Matt Provencher, MD, will not return as the New England Patriots' medical director in 2016, according to SB Nation.

Here are five insights:

 

1. Dr. Provencher started his role as the Patriot's medical director in 2014.

 

2. He also served as the Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital's chief of sports medicine.  

 

3. Dr. Provencher was a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

 

4. He is leaving the position to take on a new role at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo.

 

5. After receiving his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H., Dr. Provencher completed a residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He then completed a shoulder, knee and sports medicine fellowship at Rush University in Chicago.
