Cincinnati-based Christ Hospital signed an agreement with Mazak, a machine tool manufacturer, offering full reimbursement to local employees from Mazak who come to the hospital for total knee or hip replacement procedures, according to a Cincinnati Business Courier report.
Here are five notes:
1. The deal isn't the first of its kind negotiated by Christ Hospital. The hospital also signed a similar agreement with General Electric.
2. The hospital is in talks with other companies with self-funded health plans to set up partnerships for joint procedures.
3. Mazak has approximately 1,000 employees in the United States.
4. Christ Hospital's Joint & Spine Center opened in fall 2015 and includes 12 operating rooms and 87 private inpatient rooms.
5. A nurse navigator will assist Mazak employees with selecting a physician and provide information about the procedure.
