Dr. Keith Meister performs arthroscopic elbow surgery on Indians' Cody Anderson: 5 insights

Keith Meister, MD, of Dallas-based TMI Sports Medicine, performed arthroscopic elbow surgery on Cleveland Indians' relief pitcher, Cody Anderson, on Nov. 9, according to Cleveland 19 News

Here are five insights:

 

1. After citing elbow pain at the end of the season, Mr. Anderson received a diagnosis of impingement in the back of the elbow joint.

 

2. Dr. Meister performed an arthroscopic debridement of the pitcher's right elbow.

 

3. Mr. Anderson will likely be able to start a throwing program in about eight weeks.

 

4. Dependent on recovery, Mr. Anderson should be ready to play come the 2017 regular season.

 

5. Board certified, Dr. Meister completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic of Eugene in Oregon; a hand surgery fellowship at University of Virginia in Charlottesville; another sports medicine fellowship at Alabama Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham; and a knee surgery fellowship at The Institute of Orthopedics Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in Middlesex, England.
