James Andrews, MD, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine consulted with the Washington football team leading up to the draft, helping them select healthy, high-quality players, according to CBS.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Andrews has a long-standing relationship with the team, often attending games and treating injured players.
2. The team drafted defensive end Jonathan Allen, a graduate of The University of Alabama, in the first round after being assured by Dr. Andrews the player's shoulders were in good enough shape.
3. Dr. Andrews also cleared the team's third round pick, cornerback Fabian Moreau after the former UCLA player injured a pectoral muscle before the draft.
4. Dr. Andrews also cleared Ryan Anderson, the team's second round pick who had attended The University of Alabama.
