The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Collaborative Research Network is offering $300,000 in research funding.
Here's what you should know.
1. The funding hopes to advance research in the areas of bone health, cardiac screening, concussions, sports specialization and athletic performance and ultrasound use in sports medicine.
2. The funding is open to all AMSSM members. AMSSM encourages members to collaborate with other researchers both in and outside AMSSM. CRN will award one or more proposals up to $30,0000 for a maximum of two years.
3. AMSSM made the announcement at its 26th annual meeting, May 8 through May 13 in San Diego.
4. AMSSM CRN Leadership Committee Chair Anthony Beutler, MD, said in a release, "The goal of this RFP is to assist AMSSM members in building multisite research collaborations. These collaborations are essential to the multisite cohort studies that will shape future sports medicine care across all active populations."
5. Letters of intent are due June 30 with full proposals due Nov. 1.
