Illinois Bone & Joint Institute established The Sports Neurology Clinic at IBJI.
"The Sports Neurology Clinic at IBJI addresses the entire spectrum of neurological care in athletes. In addition to providing advanced treatment for concussion and other neurologic conditions faced by athletes, we offer neurological pre-participation evaluations, long-term brain health initiatives and educational resources for the community," said Anthony Savino, MD.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Savino is leading the initiative. He is a board-certified neurologist who underwent a sports neurology fellowship at Phoenix-based The Sports Neurology Clinic at The CORE Institute.
2. The new clinic will address head injuries and provide multidisciplinary approaches to concussions and other sports injuries for pediatric and adult patients.
3. The clinic will provide ongoing brain management for athletes and injury prevention and awareness educational programs.
4. Illinois Bone & Joint Institute includes more than 100 board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians and surgeons treating patients in every orthopedic specialty.
