Written by Laura Miller | July 06, 2011
Neal ElAttrache, MD, an orthopedic sports medicine physician at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, will perform a season-ending shoulder procedure on Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jon Garland, according to an ESPN Los Angeles report.
Dr. ElAttrache will perform a procedure to clean debris from Mr. Garland's shoulder. He first experienced pain during his starts earlier this season. He received a second opinion from Dr. ElAttrache's colleague at Kerlan-Jobe, Lewis Yocum, MD, before deciding on surgery.
The recovery period for Mr. Garland after surgery will last at least six months.
