Here are five things to know about Mazor X.
1. The company launched Mazor X commercially at the North American Spine Society Annual Meeting after the July 2016 pre-launch generated orders from customers in the United States.
2. Medtronic entered into a co-marketing, promotion and training agreement with Mazor in May to move toward commercialization. Since then, hundreds of capital and clinical specialists have been trained in the system to support surgeons. Medtronic ordered 15 Mazor X systems.
3. Dozens of surgeons have attended the Mazor labs since the Mazor X pre-launch to learn more about the technology. The company expects the commercialization to drive further sales of the company's product portfolio, including the company's Renaissance robotic spine surgery system.
4. Mazor X took several years to develop and features sophisticated integrative abilities for spine surgeries.
5. Mazor established an exchange (post-sale) program for existing Renaissance systems in the United States. The company reported three pre-launch orders before the commercial launch with scheduled delivery in the first quarter of next year.
