According to ATI Physical Therapy Department of Research and Data Analytics, several key trends will gain traction in the new year.
Here are five things to know:
1. The new focus on care coordination and management will facilitate a bigger move to “value-based care” for many patients and healthcare organizations.
2. Value-based care focuses on patient outcomes versus the number of patients treated, and at its center is the move to a bundled payment model.
3. Bundled payment models encompass an average total cost of a procedure, including preoperative services, surgical services and post-surgical services, such as physical therapy in most orthopedic instances.
4. Medicare bundled payments have created an average savings per orthopedic case of about $4,000. Sixty-seven markets, including New York and San Francisco, reported an estimated $343 million in savings to Medicare, and an additional eight more markets were required to launch bundled payments as of Jan. 1, 2016.
5. ATI Physical Therapy is a privately held, nationally recognized healthcare company specializing in outpatient rehabilitation and adjacent healthcare services.
