New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery partnered with Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare and United Surgical Partners International, a Tenet subsidiary, to develop an orthopedic care center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Here are five key notes:
1. The newly created orthopedic care center will be located adjacent to Tenet’s Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach.
2. The center will offer outpatient orthopedic care, such as diagnostic services, ambulatory surgery, rehabilitation and sports performance programs.
3. HSS physicians will be staffed at the West Palm Beach center while continuing employment at New York City-based HSS.
4. With more than 32,000 surgeries performed in 2016, HSS is ranked No. 1 in orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report for 2017-2018. It is estimated HSS physicians treat 130,000 patients annually.
5. Tenet employs roughly 130,000 people and operates general acute care and specialty hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers and other outpatient facilities across the U.S.
“There is a natural synergy between HSS, the world’s leading academic medical center for musculoskeletal health, USPI, a top-tier ambulatory surgery provider, and Tenet’s overall commitment to developing exceptional, differentiated service lines that enable patients to live healthier lives,” said Ron Rittenmeyer,
executive chairman and CEO of Tenet Healthcare. “Being able to leverage the knowledge and expertise at HSS in the care of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions will enable us to create a new center of excellence for our patients.”
