East Providence, R.I.-based University Orthopedics and Johnston, R.I.-based The Center for Orthopaedics developed a partnership to expand their practice.
Here are four things to know:
1. As of Jan. 1, 2019, the two physician groups will partner, with the physicians of The Center for Orthopaedics bringing their expertise to University Orthopedics. The Center's surgeons will continue to perform surgery at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, R.I.
2. The Center's physicians will maintain their current patient base and practice facility and accept the same insurance carriers they did in the past. "This partnership will further enhance our services by offering our patients access to additional subspecialty experts in foot and ankle, pediatrics, trauma and orthopedic oncology," said Founder and Principal of The Center for Orthopaedics A. Robert Buananno, MD.
3. The Center for Orthopaedics launched more than 35 years ago and focuses on orthopedic and sports medicine care. University Orthopedics includes more than 45 musculoskeletal and sports medicine physicians.
4. Post-partnership, University Orthopedics plans to continue its mission to integrate orthopedic care with education and research.
