New York hospital names Dr. David Chalif chief of neurosurgery — 4 things to know

David Chalif, MD, was recently appointed chief of neurosurgery at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, N.Y., reports Patch.

Four things to know:

1. The hospital recently expanded cardiac and trauma care services, and Dr. Chalif's goal is to establish a new multidisciplinary neurosurgery program.

2. Dr. Chalif specializes in the treatment of complex cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations and brain tumors.

3. Previously, he served as chief of vascular neurosurgery at New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health and founded and directed the health system's brain aneurysm center.

4. Dr. Chalif received the Brain Aneurysm Foundation's 2018 Physician Champion Award and is also a member of its medical advisory board.
