The Center is now part of the St. Charles System, and will operate under the name St. Charles Center for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery, according to a Feb. 24 press release.
The goal of the merger is to expand access to orthopedics for patients in the area who have seen a decline in practitioners over the last two years, according to the report. St. Charles plans to focus on recruiting additional musculoskeletal practitioners to the region.
Following the merger, St. Charles Center for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery will have 27 physicians and 29 advanced practice providers on staff.
The transition was led by former board president of The Center, now senior medical director of orthopedics, neurosurgery and physiatry, Christopher Healy, MD.
All locations where The Center formally operated will remain open under the St. Charles Center for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery name.
“Our combined teams have been working diligently to ensure a smooth and seamless transition,” a notice on the St. Charles system website reads. “While the name has changed, you will continue to receive the same exceptional care from the dedicated providers and caregivers you know and trust.”
