Atlanta-based Legacy Center for Spinal Surgery earned advanced certification in spine surgery from The Joint Commission, according to a news release shared with Becker’s April 14.
The certification was earned after the ASC went through an unannounced onsite review in March. The facility was evaluated for compliance with standards including clinical information management, program management and delivering care.
Legacy Center for Spinal Surgery is the one of two healthcare facilities to earn The Joint Commission nod for spine surgery, Said Elshihabi, MD, owner of the ASC, said in the release.
“As the only other center in Georgia besides Emory Healthcare, and the only ambulatory
surgical center to earn this designation, Legacy Center for Spinal Surgery and it’s affiliate
clinical practice, Legacy Brain & Spine, are excited to bring the highest level of safe, reliable and effective spine surgery to the Georgia market,” Dr. Elshihabi said in the release.
