Three takeaways:
1. The objective of the new office is to uphold the highest standards in patient care, teaching, research and innovation as well as compliance and quality control measures being met.
2. The outgoing surgeon-in-chief and medical director, Todd Albert, MD, will focus on his practice as a spine surgeon and other leadership activities within HSS.
3. Douglas Padgett, MD, will assume the new role of associate surgeon-in-chief and deputy medical director, while Mathias Bostrom, MD, will take Dr. Padgett’s current position on July 1.
“Formation of the HSS office of medical leadership, and Dr. Padgett’s appointment to join Dr. Kelly there, is the culmination of careful planning to equip HSS to further advance quality, value and impact,” said Louis Shapiro, president and CEO of HSS.
