The Thompson Foundation donated $3 million to Columbia-based University of Missouri for its new orthopedic center, according to Missourian.
Here are five notes:
1. MU will name the center Thompson Center for Regenerative Orthopaedics.
2. Through the center, MU aims to help patients with joint replacements resume their daily activities.
3. MU hopes to become a leader in joint replacements with the Thompson Center for Regenerative Orthopaedics, drawing in faculty and researchers.
4. MU will house the center on Missouri Orthopaedic Institute's fourth floor, which is under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2017.
5. Bill and Nancy Thompson donated $8.5 million in 2005 to MU to create the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
