Rehan Syed Shamim, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at the Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, a practice with seven offices throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His specialties include cartilage restoration surgery, hip labrum repair and tendon repair of the knee and elbow.
Prior to joining Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey, Dr. Shamim worked at the New Brunswick, N.J.-based The Promise Clinic, where he served as a physician and taught first and second year medical students. Since then, he has lectured on topics including knee braces, surgical techniques in sports medicine and shoulder and knee injuries. He also served as an assistant team physician for the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins.
Dr. Shamim earned his medical degree from Rutgers University's Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, N.J. He went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the UCLA Medical Center.
