The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recognized James Hill, MD, with its 2020 Diversity Award on March 30.
Three things to know:
1. The award recognizes AAOS members for their commitment to making orthopedics more representative of — and accessible to — diverse patient populations.
2. Dr. Hill has served as professor of orthopedic surgery at Chicago-based Northwestern University School of Medicine for 40 years and is a former chief of staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
3. He is also a founding member and the longest serving president of the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, which is a multicultural organization focused on increasing the number of minorities in orthopedic surgery.
