The Dallas Cowboys are expected to be the most popular sports team in America in 2024, according to data from online gaming site Lucky Gambler.
The site analyzed search volume data from Google Keyword Planner in 2023 to determine which sports teams have been the most searched-for in America, according to a Jan. 8 email sent to Becker's.
Here are America's five favorite sports teams of 2024, and the orthopedic surgeons who provide care for their players:
1. Dallas Cowboys (NFL): The Cowboys are cared for by Daniel Cooper, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Dallas-based Carrell Clinic.
2. Miami Heat (NBA): The Heat are cared for by head team physician F. Harlan Selesnick, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care in Coral Gables, Fla. He has been the team's physician since 1988.
3. Buffalo Bills (NFL): The Bills are cared for by two team orthopedists: Andrew Cappuccino, MD, a spine specialist, and Marc Fineberg, MD. The team's head team physician is orthopedic surgeon Leslie Bisson, MD, who works at UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine center in Amherst, N.Y.
4. Atlanta Braves (MLB): Gary Lourie, MD, has served as the orthopedic hand surgeon for the Braves for over 20 years and completed a three-year stint as head team physician. He specializes in hand and elbow surgery, orthopedic trauma and pediatric orthopedics. He works as a surgeon at Atlanta-based Hand & Upper Extremity Center of Georgia.
5. Golden State Warriors (NBA): The Warriors are cared for by lead orthopedic surgeon Chris Lehman, MD, an orthopedic specialist at the Permanente Medical Group in Oakland, Calif.
