Orthopedic devicemakers have taken advantage of acquisitions to strengthen their portfolios and grow their reach.
Here are four deals to know so far in 2024:
1. RTI Surgical signed an agreement to acquire Cook Biotech. Cook Biotech focuses on advanced tissue-repair products from biomaterials. The acquisition will bolster RTI Surgical's place as a contract development and manufacturing organization in regenerative medicine.
2. The Orthopaedic Implant Co., which is known for its value-based devices, was acquired by technology company Zeda. The Orthopaedic Implant Co. provides cost-effective products, and its acquisition will allow Zeda to produce devices for trauma patients.
3. Stryker completed its acquisition of Serf SaS. Serf SaS is based in France and is a hip implant company and is behind the Dual Mobility Cup.
4. Stryker completed its acquisition of Artelon, a company that develops soft tissue fixation products for sports medicine and foot and ankle procedures.
