Meet the orthopedic caregivers for the world's 20 most profitable sports teams

The NFL's Dallas Cowboys has been named the most profitable sports team in the world with a net worth of $10.1 billion, according to a Jan. 9 report from Forbes.

The most profitable ranking reflects Forbes' estimates of operating income for the most recent season with available data. 

Here are the head orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine providers for the world's 20 most profitable sports teams:

1. Dallas Cowboys, $10.1 billion (NFL): The Cowboys are cared for by Daniel Cooper, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Dallas-based Carrell Clinic. 

2. Los Angeles Rams, $7.6 billion (NFL): The Rams are cared for by Neal ElAttrache, MD, who serves as head team physician for the Rams and the MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers.

3. New England Patriots, $7.4 billion (NFL): The Patriots are cared for by Peter Asnis, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital.  

4. Edmonton Oilers, $2.65 billion (NHL): The Oilers are cared for by Dhiren Naidu, MD, an associate professor in the department of medicine at the University of Alberta and a physician at HealthPointe Medical Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. 

5. Los Angeles Lakers, $7.1 billion (NBA): The Lakers are cared for by head team physician and director of orthopedic surgery Kristofer Jones, MD. Dr. Jones is an orthopedic surgeon at Los Angeles-based UCLA Health specializing in sports-related musculoskeletal injuries.

6. New York Giants, $7.3 billion (NFL): The Giants are cared for by Scott Rodeo, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery. 

7. Manchester United, $6.55 billion (Premier League): Manchester players are cared for by Gary O'Driscoll, a sports medicine specialist who recently took up the role as head of sports medicine for Manchester United.

8. New York Knicks, $7.5 billion (NBA): The Knicks are cared for by Daphne Scott, MD, chief of primary sports medicine at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Scott specializes in nonsurgical treatment of acute, chronic and overuse injuries and oversees 25 physicians across 14 locations.

9. Houston Texans, $6.1 billion (NFL): The Texans are cared for by Steven Flores, MD, an assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He is also the head physician for the NBA's Houston Rockets. 

10. Tottenham Hotspurs, $3.2 billion (Premier League): Information is not available. 

11. (tie) Houston Rockets, $4.9 billion (NBA): The Rockets are cared for by head orthopedic team physician Steven Flores, MD, a sports medicine and arthroscopy specialist who has been with the team for 10 years. Dr. Flores works in private practice in Texas. 

11. (tie) Washington Commanders, $6.3 billion (NFL): The Commanders are cared for by Christopher Annunziata, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at North Chesterfield-based OrthoVirginia.  

13. (tie) Dallas Mavericks, $4.7 billion (NBA): The Mavericks are cared for by Daniel Worrel, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Carrell Clinic. Dr. Worrel has a special interest in treating disorders of the elbow and performs minimally invasive repairs of bicep ruptures, as well as arthroscopic treatment of degenerative, stiff or traumatized elbows. He also performs ligament reconstruction of the shoulder, elbow and knee.

13. (tie) Philadelphia Eagles, $6.6 billion (NFL): The Eagles are cared for by head team physician Peter DeLuca, MD. Dr. DeLuca sees patients at Livingston (N.J.) Surgery Center.

16. Indianapolis Colts, $4.8 billion (NFL): The Colts are cared for by George Maiers, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Carmel, Ind. 

17. San Francisco 49ers, $6.8 billion (NFL): The 49ers are cared for by orthopedic surgeon Timothy McAdams, MD, who practices at Stanford Health Care in Redwood City, Calif.

18. Los Angeles Kings, $2.9 billion (NHL): Dr. Neal ElAttrache, physician for the Rams, consults for the Kings. 

19. (tie) Golden State Warriors, $8.8 billion (NBA): The Warriors are cared for by lead orthopedic surgeon Chris Lehman, MD, an orthopedic specialist at the Permanente Medical Group in Oakland, Calif.
