Riley Williams, MD, performed successful knee surgery on Kyrie Irving, a point guard for the Dallas Mavericks.
The procedure was to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in Mr. Irving’s left knee, according to a March 26 news release from the team.
Mr. Irving suffered the injury during a game on March 3. He will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season due to the injury.
Dr. Williams is the chief of sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also serves as the medical director and team orthopedic surgeon for the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty professional basketball teams.
