University of California San Francisco physicians performed the world's first elbow-to-elbow transplant, according to an ABC 7 News report.

1. Lisa Lattanza, MD, chief of elbow and upper extremity surgery at UCSF Medical Center led the team that performed the ground-breaking procedure.
2. The procedure took 11 hours to complete.
3. The surgery was performed on Reggie Cook, a man from Texas who was injured in a car accident and has suffered from limited movement in his arms for years.
4. The initial post-surgery results have been encouraging.
