Orthopedic practices in several states were recently recognized by professional organizations for quality care.
Five details:
1. Akron, Ohio-based Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center was recertified by The Joint Commission for disease-specific care. It is the only Ohio hospital to have Joint Commission certification in four major procedures: spinal fusions and total hip, total knee and total shoulder replacements.
2. The Norton Orthopedic Institute and Norton Leatherman Spine at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Ky., were recognized as an Orthopedic Center of Excellence by accreditation company DNV GL Healthcare.
3. UNC Health Blue Ridge's spine center in Morganton, N.C., was awarded The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval, a two-year certification showing compliance with the commission's safety and quality standards for spine surgery.
4. Royal, Va.-based Valley Health Warren Memorial Hospital earned the Gold Seal of Approval for total knee replacement and total hip replacement certification from The Joint Commission.
5. Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Medical Center was given The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for total hip and knee replacement.
