Providence Medical Technology named a new executive and highlighted the publication of two studies regarding its cervical fusion technology.

1. Jeremy Laynor is the company's new vice president of U.S. sales.
2. Before taking this post, Mr. Laynor was VP of sales at Paradigm Spine. He also previously served in sales leadership positions at Medtronic and Cardinal Spine.
3. Journal of Craniovertebral Junction and Spine published two studies analyzing posterior fusion with Providence's DTRAX Spinal System and CAVUX cervical cages. The DTRAX system involves single-use instruments intended for posterior cervical fusion. The CAVUX cervical cage is intended to treat patients with degenerative disc disease.
4. The first study assessed 89 patients with cervical radiculopathy, receiving posterior cervical fusion and bilateral cages. The patients saw a mean hospital stay of 29 hours and a 3.4 percent overall complication rate.
5. The other study looks at a case series of cervical cages placed posteriorly as an adjunct to fusion instead of using lateral mass screws. Researchers found posterior cervical cages are a successful alternative to the lateral mass screws.
