South Dakota hospital installs Medtronic’s robotic spine surgery platform: 3 notes

Dunes Surgical Hospital in Dakota Dunes, S.D., installed Medtronic’s Mazor X for spine surgery, KTIV.com reports.

Three things to know:

1. According to neurosurgeon Hendrik Klopper, MD, Dunes is the only hospital in the state to install a robotic surgery platform.

2. Dr. Klopper said Mazor X allows more patients to be candidates for minimally invasive spine surgery.

3. Dunes Surgical Hospital has performed about 20 spine surgeries using the Mazor X robotic arm.
