Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Mesfin A. Lemma of Johns Hopkins

Mesfin Lemma, MD, is the division chief of Johns Hopkins Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital and co-director of spine surgery. He is also an assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Mesfin Lemma of Johns Hopkins HospitalDr. Lemma’s clinical expertise is in minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preservation and spinal problems in the elderly.

His research interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, clinical and outcomes after spine surgery, spinal osteoporosis and vertebral augmentation. He has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Lemma received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency and a spinal reconstruction fellowship at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
