Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Kevin Foley of Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute

Kevin Foley, MD, serves as director of complex spine surgery at Memphis, Tenn.-based Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute. He is also a professor of neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and director of the University's spine fellowship program in the department of neurosurgery.

Dr. Foley also previously served as an assistant chief of neurosurgery at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam in Houston and chief of neurosurgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, now known as Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Dr. Foley is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery, image guided spine navigation and spine biomechanics. His clinical interests also include cervical herniated discs, cervical spine diseases, degenerative spine, herniated disc, joint surgery arthroplasty and lumbar degenerative disc disease.

Dr. Foley earned his medical degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also completed his residency in neurosurgery.
