The North American Spine Society awarded research and clinical traveling fellowships to three surgeons and medical professionals at their annual meeting last week.
The NASS research traveling fellowship lasts at least five months at one medical center other than the surgeon's current practice. The research traveling fellowships were awarded to John K. Kramer, PhD, Armin Curt, of the University Hospital of Balgrist and University of Zurich in Switzerland; and Hiroaki Nakashima, MD, of the University of Toronto.
Dr. Kramer received a $7,420 research award and Dr. Nakashima received a $7,000 award.
The clinical traveling fellowship lasts at least one month and surgeons spend time at three to five different medical centers studying spine techniques. The clinical traveling fellowship was awarded to Yuzeng Liu, MD, PhD, of China and the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles and the University of Southern California Spine Center.
The grant was worth $7,500.
