1. The award honors HSS alumni who excel in spine education, research, practice or humanitarian efforts while demonstrating leadership, academia, clinical innovation and societal involvement.
2. The Andrew M. Swanson, MD, Spine Awards were created in 2009 to honor Dr. Swanson for his compassionate medical care and serves.
3. Dr. Anand is a professor and director of spine trauma at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is also the founder of Los Angeles-based The Anand Spine Group.
4. Pioneering minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Anand has been a part of various FDA trials dating back 15 years. He underwent fellowship training at the University of Florida Spine Health Centers in Gainesville and Hospital for Special Surgery.
5. Dr. Anand is a member of the North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
